Why use liners?

At Modkat, we're proud of our reusable litter liners. They're tailored to fit our cat boxes, and they make your clean-up job easy.

But since all liners aren't created equal, we get a lot of questions about ours. Today, we're answering your questions about our liners.

What are cat litter liners for? 

• Litter box liners make cleaning out the entire litter box and disposing of old litter a breeze.
• You won't have to scrub your litter box clean as often. 
• Liners prevent kitty from scratching the hard plastic shell.
• The liners keep the litter box hygienic for you and your cat.

How do the Modkat Reusable Liners work?
The Modkat Reusable Liners are made of commercial-strength tarpaulin, which is rip-resistant and a snap to clean! They stay securely in place and easily lift out for effortless litter changes. Our liners are taller than most, containing the mess, and they are tailored to fit perfectly inside our litter boxes. No more unsightly bulges! 

How is your liner different from other litter box liners?
Standard liners are made of thin plastic, rip easily, look awful bulging out of the box, and are wasteful. Our litter liners are made of tough tarpaulin, can be reused, and are tailored to fit perfectly inside our litter box.

What if my cat rips holes in regular plastic liners?
A cat's claws can poke holes in thin plastic liners, allowing urine to seep through to the bottom of the litter box. If cats get their claws snagged or stuck in the plastic as they attempt to cover, it can create an unpleasant association with the litter box. This can result in cats seeking out other elimination locations. Modkat liners have a smooth, durable scratching surface. Cats claws will not get stuck or snagged or poke holes like they do with standard liner bags.

How and when should I clean the liner? 
If you see residue on the liner, wipe it with a little mild dish soap and water. For a more thorough cleaning, submerge the liner in diluted dish soap and water for 15 minutes to let the soap to penetrate the seams. Allow 24 hours for the liner to dry sufficiently. Alternatively, you can  use an enzyme cleaner and follow the instructions on the bottle. Do NOT put the liner in dishwasher, dryer, or washing machine.

How long do Modkat Reusable Liners last? 
Reusable liners last up to three months depending on how many cats use the litter box, how much litter is used, and how ferociously your cat(s) scratch. To get the most out of your liners, we recommend cleaning them with mild dish soap and water monthly. Be sure to let the liner dry before putting it back in the box. Replace the reusable liner when there are signs of fraying, tearing, or excessive odor.

Are Modkat Reusable Liners more expensive than standard liners? 
Modkat liners are built to last. Some customers have told us they have used one liner for over a year! Our tough, reusable liners can definitely help you save money and eliminate the frustration associated with easy-to-rip plastic garbage bag liners.

What kind of liners can I use? 
All our litter boxes come with one of our exclusive Modkat Reusable Liners specifically tailored to each box. They last up to three months, and replacements are available here. 

What if my cat doesn’t like liners?
If your cat's not the liner type, don't worry! All Modkat litter boxes feature seamless bases and smooth bottoms for easy scooping and cleanup.
